Re: mortgage refusal

Banks normally have rules to offer mortggaes to UK permanent residents. I know lots of friends who are refugees and who have got mortgages. You may have been the victim of an over zealous/ ill informed bank official- try other banks or if you feel really annoyed about it - go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau and seek legal advice. A letter to the bank branch manager setting out your circumstances and other UK ties and commitments may make them rethink or at the very least it might make them check their rules on new mortgage applicants. If unsuccessful, go to another bank who is more deserving and appreciative of your custom! Good Luck. Yours Mr. Housing and Hurdles Specialist ; - )
