International Women's Day 2011
International Women's Day 2011
Event Date:
Monday, 7 March 2011 As the 1951 Refugee Convention reaches 60 years in existence, we are also set to celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women’s day (IWD) over the month of March.
While IWD is a national holiday in many countries, the UK is leading the way by holding over 475 events honouring women and their achievements.
This IWD Centenary will provide an opportunity to reignite, inspire and channel women's equality for the future and a chance to honour and remember all of those women who have fought and continue to fight for gender equality.
Thousands of events will be held around the UK during the week of March 8 to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. You can find out about events near you on the International Women’s Day website.
