Selina Adda and her two children were granted judicial review of the decision to deport the family on Wednesday, 27th January, the day they were due to take a flight to Accra, Ghana.
The family, who have been living in Nottingham for five years, were detained at Yarl’s Wood and taken to Heathrow Airport on Wednesday morning. They were made to wait in a car near the runway where the plane was due to depart at 14.50.
Selina received the good news from her solicitor that she had been granted a reprieve just hours before the flight was due to depart.
According to representatives from the Selina Adda Campaign, Selina and her children were exhausted and the day was very traumatic. They continue to be held in detention and await a bail hearing later this week.
Selina’s ordeal is not over and will depend on the court’s decision following the judicial review of the deportation decision. The Testimony Project joins Selina’s supporters in calling for the imminent release of the Adda family from Yarl’s Wood and their safe return to Nottingham, where the children can return to school.
