Refugee Council Conference – An Introduction to Asylum Support (London)

Thursday, 25 February 2010 An interactive course that explores the methods that asylum seekers can gain access to support through both non-governmental and governmental organisations.
This course will be especially valuable to those new to the asylum field. Delegates who participate in the course will gain a practical understanding of a number of concepts including:
-The dispersal process
-The various asylum support options
-Changes of circumstances
-Ways to access basic entitlements
-The UK Border Agency (UKBA) Asylum Support System and changes to support provisions
-The work of the UKBA Asylum Teams
-Any possible restrictions in the support process (Section 55 and Section 57)
-The effect of recent legislation on support
-The implications of future policy and procedure changes
The course costs £109 for participants from NGOs and voluntary organisations and £175 for educational bodies and businesses.
